Dear Members of the Hiring Committee,

As a current Exercise Science student and active member of the Grand Canyon University community, I have seen firsthand how pivotal the right support system is to a student’s success. Having served the university as both a Resident Assistant and a Discover Host, I have developed a deep passion for the GCU mission and a personal commitment to helping students navigate their academic journeys. I am writing to express my enthusiastic interest in the Student Service Counselor position.

My background at GCU has prepared me to handle the unique demands of the Student Service Counselor role, which requires a balance of high-level interpersonal connection and meticulous administrative coordination. In my time as a Discover Host, I acted as a primary point of contact for prospective families, translating complex university information into relatable and encouraging conversations. This experience taught me how to build immediate rapport and represent the university’s values with excellence, which is essential when guiding students through enrollment and financial service milestones.

Furthermore, my experience as a Resident Assistant sharpened my ability to manage the direct needs of the student body. Supporting a community of over 100 students required proactive problem solving, constant communication, and the ability to address academic and personal hurdles in a timely, positive manner. I worked closely with a collaborative team to ensure that every student felt welcomed and informed, maintaining a high level of attention to detail while managing the administrative responsibilities of the role.

Beyond my work on campus, my role as a Physical Therapy Technician at Spooner Physical Therapy has strengthened my ability to manage schedules, conduct professional follow-up outreach, and maintain clinical records. Whether I am assisting a patient with their recovery or helping a student find their place on campus, my goal remains the same: to provide the guidance and encouragement necessary for others to reach their full potential.
